What is Cerakote?

 Go beyond a standard finish. Cerakote is a premium, polymer-ceramic composite coating that forms a permanent, ultra-durable ceramic layer on your product. Unlike traditional finishes that wear away, Cerakote chemically bonds with the surface to create a tough barrier that protects against scratches, rust, and the elements.  Key properties

  • Superior hardness and durability: The ceramic base provides a surface that is exceptionally resistant to abrasion, scratches, and impact, often outperforming traditional finishes like bluing, anodizing, or powder coating.
  • Corrosion resistance: Cerakote is highly resistant to corrosion from moisture, rust, and salt spray, making it ideal for products exposed to harsh environments.
  • High-temperature resistance: Some Cerakote products, particularly the Glacier and H-series, can withstand very high temperatures without losing their protective properties.
  • Chemical resistance: The coating is resistant to many chemicals and solvents, providing a reliable protective barrier.

Cerakote Applications

 The original and still one of the most common uses for Cerakote is in the firearm industry, where it is used to protect and customize: 

  • External components: Receivers, slides, barrels, and handguards are coated for maximum protection against the elements and heavy use.
  • Internal parts: The thin-film nature of Cerakote is ideal for internal parts where close tolerances are a concern. It can act as a lubricant and reduce friction.
  • Magazines and accessories: Custom finishes are applied to magazines, sights, and optics. 

Automotive: Cerakote is used on car and motorcycle parts to handle extreme heat and provide long-lasting cosmetic finishes. 

  • High-temperature components: Exhaust systems, headers, turbos, and engine parts are coated with heat-resistant Cerakote series to protect against thermal shock and corrosion.
  • Engine parts: Intake manifolds, valve covers, and other engine components get a durable, protective, and colorful finish.
